09/03/2009 – Gov. Haley Barbour’s Budget Cut Announcement
Here is Gov. Haley Barbour’s announcement for a state budget cut for public education of 5 percent. State law permits the Governor at the end of October to make cuts up to 5 percent in the state budget when state revenues fall 2 percent or more below the state’s fiscal year revenue estimates.

This table shows how many Mississippi Adequate Education Program (MAEP) dollars each school district will lose as a result of the 5 percent cut imposed by Governor Barbour in September 2009. MAEP funds represent approximately 70 percent of the funding for school districts.
