The community is the center of change and the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Therefore, community empowerment and intergenerational engagement are the two pillars from which Southern Echo conducts its work. Those who live and work in the community are in the best position to know what challenges their community faces, and they have the strongest motivation and passion to see that those challenges are met and overcome. To better assist them, we work with community members, leaders, and youth to educate, train, and technically support community efforts to effect positive and progressive changes. For this reason, Southern Echo’s work always begins in the community and extends through all generational groupings. With the people kept at the center of our focus, we are better able to support communities as they become more knowledgeable and active stewards of their own destinies by engaging and directing the public policies that affect their lives.
