Schedule of 2010 Public Hearings in August and September, 2010 for 2011 State Redistricting
These public hearings, open to any person, are being held in August and September 2010 across the state to solicit input and feedback to the Committee on what value, benchmarks and standards that the Legislative Committee ought to use when it prepares proposed redistricting plans in 2011 for the congressional, state legislative, and judicial districts. At these hearings the public can raise any questions or express any concerns they have about the redistricting process, past, present and future.
Community-based Recommendations for Values, Benchmarks and Standards to be used in the 2011 Redistricting of Congressional, Legislative, and Judicial Districts in Mississippi
These recommendations were submitted to the Mississippi Joint Standing Legislative Committee on Reapportionment on August 16, 2010 as a reflection of the views of the 10 grassroots community organizations in the MS Delta Catalyst Roundtable and are based on the experience of Southern Echo and its grassroots community partners in the Mississippi redistricting process since 1990.
