"BLACK FUTURES MATTER: CIVIC LIFE, HEALTH, & EQUITY"

FREE ONLINE COURSE!

Study to become an architect of social change in your community! Join professors and community scholars from around the country in a 6-month certificate course in the civic humanities. You will learn about history, civics, social organizing, and health justice, and work on hands-on projects in social reasoning, community-based research, and community empowerment.  


 The course meets for two sessions each month from February through June (Thursday evening/Saturday morning). You’ll participate in interactive online seminars with Rachel Mayes (Southern Echo), Kris Manjapra (Tufts University), Don Rojas (National African American Reparations Commission), Jemadari Kumara (Boston University), Cedric Buckley (Jackson State University), Sharrelle Barber (Drexel University), and Robin D.G. Kelley (UCLA). In addition, you’ll put your learning to work in practical ways during monthly Research Labs.


 The course will conclude with an online capstone experience. 


 Upon completion, students will receive a course certificate from Tufts University.


 All community members working with Southern Echo and Project South are encouraged to apply.
