Training

Training is a principal means through which Southern Echo strives to:

  1. enable community people and public officials to engage in historical and strategic analysis,
  2. explore the merits of substantive policy issues,
  3. share information about community conditions and organizational work,
  4. develop specific skills and tools,
  5. raise consciousness about challenges facing communities,
  6. enable diverse groups of people to meet and learn about and learn from each other,
  7. build mutual trust and respect among people, and
  8. debrief and evaluate on-going organizing work in community.

Southern Echo conducts residential training schools, workshops and community meetings in Mississippi and other southern and southwestern states, and publishes manuals, reports and slide shows in support of this process.  Training sessions are designed to support the work of grassroots community organizations and include:
